Shree Swami Samartha

Shree Swami Samartha comes from the age-old guru tradition of the Dattatreya sampradaya. He is also called Sri Akkalkot Swami Samarth or the great sage of Akkalkot.

He became the Guru (preceptor) of many great souls like Shree Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Shree Sai Baba of Shirdi, Shree Shankar Maharaj, and Shree Gajajan Maharaj of Shegaon etc. He is revered as the teacher of all spiritual teachers i.e. guru of gurus. He is a direct incarnation of Supreme Consciousness or Para-Brahma. He is measureless compassion and limitless ananda (bliss). Shree Swami Samarth can instantly grant incessant supreme divine joy on whomever he chooses. Devotees still experience his divine presence and feel reassured because of his quote – ‘Never be afraid and I am always with you’.

The early life of Swami Maharaj

In 1149, Chhele Village, Punjab

In 1378, Pithapurm, Andra Pradesh

In 1528, Karanja, Vidarbha MH

In 1856, Akkalkot

Lord Dattatreya took avatar as Shree Swami Samarth. He took an extensive pilgrimage, covering even places, now known as Jawa, Sumatra, Indonesia, China, Japan,Australia etc., relieved many people from their miseries, and guided them on the spiritual path.

Incarnated as Shree Narasimha Saraswati and worked for around 100 years. During this time, he consecrated and established holy places like Audumbar, Nrusihwadi and Gangapur. Later in 1678, he ended this incarnation and re-incarnated as Shree Swami Samarth. He left his ‘Nirgun Padukas’ to his disciples before leaving for the Kardali forests to perform Tapas [penance].

Prior to his settlement at Akkalkot, Swami Samarth seems to have visited far and wide. While moving in the Himalayan region he visited places like Puri, Benaras, Hardwar, Girnar, Kathiawad and Rameswaram in the South. He also stayed at Mangalvedha, a town near Pandharpur in Solapur district Maharashtra, which had been inhabited earlier by famous saints like Domojipant and Chokhamela. He came to Akkalkot in 1856 where he continued his physical existence for 22 years.

In AD 1678, Swami Maharaj reappeared in His original form of Shree Swami Samarth. In AD 1856, Swami Maharaj entered Akkalkot town in district Solapur, Maharashtra and stayed there for 22 years relieving people from all sorts of agonies in His characteristic style. Swami Maharaj became the pillar of spiritual strength to every one and fulfilled their wishes. Swami advised them to pray to God with pure heart & was kind enough to rescue them irrespective of their past deeds. However, Swami Maharaj neither yearned for fame nor expected people to revisit Akkalkot. In AD 1878, Swami Maharaj appeared to take Samadhi (Yogic way to leave the body for heavenly abode). However, it is our good fortune that Swami Maharaj is continuing the mission with keen interest, divine will power and vigour through tens of thousands of Shree Swami Samarth Seva Centres in Maharashtra, rest of India and even outside it.

Bhagvan Shree Swami Samarth Maharaj alone is the founder and divine inspiration of this Shree Swami Samarth Seva and Spiritual Development Centre. Bhagvan Shree Swami Samarth Maharaj had conveyed to His chosen disciple-- Sadguru Pithle Maharaj that He is grooming Him to create a disciple who will guide people, society, nation & the entire world in a unique way. The one and only one disciple that Sadguru Pithle Maharaj created was Sadguru Khanderao Appaji More alias Moredada. Sadguru Pithle Maharaj undertook severe penance (Tapasya) in the Himalayas for 12 years and offered daily worship with strict reverence for over 36 years at Trimbakeshwar, one of the 12 Jyotirlingams situated on the banks of river Godavari in Nasik, Maharashtra. He stayed in Nasik for 22 years and removed people's sufferings through spiritual counseling. This was the time, Sadguru Moredada was mystically directed to go to Sadguru Pithle Maharaj to get enlightened.

This Seva Marg does not have the process of spiritual initiation or Gurudiksha Pranali between the mentor and disciple. Bhagvan Shree Swami Samarth Maharaj is served as the Paratpar Guru or the Supreme Preceptor. Every year, on the holy occasion of Shree Guru Purnima, the Full Moon Day of Ashadh month of Hindu calendar, all devotees worship Swami Maharaj giving Him a sacred bath (abhishekam) & doing recitals of the Purush Suktam and the Pavman Suktam, the high hymns in His praise as Lord Vishnu. The devotees request Swami Maharaj to be their Guru & vow to remain spiritually committed to Him. The mantra Shree Swami Samarth is not secret and anybody is free to chant it day and night and see the benefits for himself or herself. Thus, the sanctity and purity of this Seva Marg is as clean and pure as the river G

anga.

In AD 1878, Swami Maharaj appeared to take Samadhi (The yogic way of leaving the body). However, it is our great fortune that Swami Maharaj is continuing His mission with divine willpower and determination through thousands of Shree Swami Samarth Seva Centres in Maharashtra, the rest of India, and now across the world through Dindori Pranit Sevamarg.

Sadguru Pithale Maharaj undertook severe penance (Tapasya) in the Himalayas for 12 years and for another 36 years at shree kshetra Trimbakeshwar, one of the 12 Jyotirlingams situated on the banks of river Godavari in Nasik, Maharashtra.

He stayed in Nasik for 22 years and removed people’s sufferings through spiritual counseling. Bhagvan Shree Swami Samarth Maharaj had conveyed to His chosen disciple-Sadguru Narayandasji Pithale Maharaj that His role will be to guide people, society, nation & the entire world through a yet-undiscovered ardent devotee of Bhagvan Shriram, Sadguru Khanderao Appaji Moredada of village Dindori in Nasik district.

In 1974, Pithle Maharaj left his physical body and As directed by Sadguru Pithle Maharaj, Sadguru Moredada raised the Dindori Darbar at His farm in Dindori, thus began the journey of empowering and healing a million mind, body and souls through simple, self-help tools that went on the alter their destinies in a short span of time.

Sadguru Moredada was born as Khanderao on May 21, 1924. His name is derived from Family god name Khandoba. While leading his routine social life happily, Sadguru Moredada was mystically directed to go to Sadguru Pithale Maharaj to get enlightened.

In fact, Sadguru Moredada had been an ardent devotee of Bhagvan Shree Shriram. However, Bhagvan Shriram appeared to Him in vision and confirmed that He should go to Sadguru Pithale Maharaj and be ready for future course of action. The divine mission was to spread Swami Seva since Kaliyuga’s principal deity is Swami Maharaj who has earlier appeared as Bhagvan Shree Shriram, Shree Krishna, Shree Pandurang, Shree Venkatesha, as part of His MahaVishnu incarnations.

After Sadguru Pithale Maharaj left His mortal coil, Sadguru Moredada brought the Swami Darbar to His farm at Dindori and initiated Swami Seva from there. It has since been known as the Dindori Darbar. Like Swami Maharaj Himself did while at Akkalkot, Sadguru Moredada also created several dedicated devotees (sevekari) from different parts of Maharashtra. In this way, hundreds of Dindori Pranit Shree Swami Samarth Seva Centres were started to help others down the chain. A huge spiritual network was mystically built as per the vision of Swami Maharaj Himself.

Sadguru Moredada toiled through the length and breadth of Maharashtra to spread Swami Samarth Seva activities always with His own money and often without a proper mode of transport. Sadguru Moredada accomplished this monumental task even as He continued to be an ordinary farmer in his fields.

On 21st May 1988, Sadguru Moredada left His body minutes after handing over the spiritual lineation to His Holiness Gurumauli Shree Shriram alias Annasaheb More, the eldest son.

After Sadguru moredada’s mahanirvan, His Holiness Gurumauli carried forward legacy of Dindori affiliated Shree Swami Samarth Sevamarg. He laid foundation of Akhil Bharatiya Shree Swami Samarth Gurupeeth, Trimbakeshwar, a charitable trust to offer a platform to the world for a healthy, happy, and peaceful life. He has been engaged in grassroots social reforms for the past four decades across India and now in various parts of the world.

For the past 40 years, he has been striving to better the lives of the last of the lowest in the social strata, empowering them with knowledge and training, making them self-reliant, and, in the process, carving out a strong village and agrarian economy that exists through the united colors of communal peace and harmony. Also, an exclusive team of trained volunteers conducts Balsanskar (Value Education) and Yuvasanskar (Youth Empowerment) sessions in the Schools and Colleges so as to spread awareness of rich heritage amongst the youth to build an incredible future and also provides guidance on Environment conservation. The result of this education and training is, thousands of people have rid themselves of alcohol and abuse, got good jobs, or are happily, self-employed, women are running small and medium-sized businesses, and farmers are using the traditional as well as modern techniques and tools of agriculture resulting in more yield. Many volunteers are working towards blood donation camps, cloth donation camps, gender equality campaigns, social engineering through mass marriages, and rehabilitation programs for drought-affected farmers, and so on. Today, personal counseling continues through all the centers of Seva Marg.
